The Broome Trip - 2005

In late March 2005 Gavin and I farmed the kids out and spent a few days in Broome, in north-western Western Australia, home to the Australian Pacific Pearl  industry. I went there with the intention of doing research into my next series, set in Broome and springing off the story of Ruby Clemenger, sister to Opal in The Italian's Virgin Bride, and twin sister to Sapphy, from Stolen by the Sheikh.

While I'd always wanted to visit Broome I had no idea just how fascinating the real town would be. Tropical heat, palm trees, the famed Stairway to the Moon, red dust and a history that defies logic - Broome is in a class of its own. I can't wait to tell you Ruby's story, and those that spring from it - but meanwhile, here's just a taste of Broome - I hope you enjoy it!
Camel riding on Cable Beach at sunset - you gotta love camels! Can you spot Gavin and me?
Our gorgeous accommodation at the Mangrove Resort Hotel overlooking Roebuck Bay. Gorgeous one minute - flash storm the next!
Sunset over Cable Beach - from the beach, from the Sunset Bar and watching the camels stroll home.
